Brooke & George

We will always remember Brooke and George’s wedding day, as it happened to be on our wedding anniversary! Brooke is a classic beauty, both on the inside, and the outside. She was exquisite in her gown by Daniel Lightfoot, and was so excited to be getting married. George was surrounded by his brother and best friends, and the boys decided a strong short black at their local cafe was necessary before heading to the church. This didn’t seem to calm the nerves though – George was so nervous he forgot to turn around as Brooke walked down the aisle! It was a touching ceremony at the Greek Orthodox Church of St George. As followers of our blog will know, here at Porfyri, we think that rain on your wedding day is good luck – and this certainly proved true for Brooke and George with Andrew taking advantage of the weather conditions to get creative with his wedding photography! A big celebration followed at the Greek Club where George and his groomsmen showed off their impressive dance moves!

Carl & Roxanne

We loved photographing Carl & Roxanne’s wedding. We were struck by how everything seemed just right. While being surrounded by many attentive and loving family and friends what we remember most about the day is the strong connection between the two of them. Roxanne was stunning in her vintage-inspired gown. She got ready at Tattersalls with the help of her sister and friends where the mood was excited but relaxed. The ceremony and the reception were held at Tattersalls which made for an easy transition for all involved. After a lovely ceremony we hit the city streets, using Brisbane’s historic architecture as a backdrop. Carl and Roxanne weren’t deterred by the rain – they had eyes only for each other! We also managed to squeeze in some shots with Carl’s Dad’s pride and joy – a classic Holden car (Andrew especially enjoyed riding in that one!) The reception followed and was a beautiful celebration with their closest friends and family.

Peter & Pei

Peter and Pei had a beautiful wedding day at Cedar Creek Estate surrounded by a loving group of friends and family. There was a gorgeous sense of intimacy throughout the guests who obviously care deeply for this lovely couple. Pei recalls feeling on the day that everyone there felt like close family and the sense of comfort this brought with it. With all this love came an outpouring of emotion, and unexpected tears! However as the celebrant (a close friend of Peter and Pei) reminded everyone – despite the tears the day was about celebration! Creative wedding photography was a big priority for Peter and Pei and we managed to dodge the rain to capture some beautiful pictures on the grounds of Cedar Creek Winery.

Yiota Karalouka - Hi there,

Absolutely love your work! I am just wondering if you are available for shooting a wedding on the 28th of September, 2013 in Brisbane?

Also, I have my engagement on the 6th of October this year and would love to have you as the photographer there as well.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks!

Angelina & Pat

Angelina met Pat on a trip to Melbourne and tells us sparks flew early, and it wasn’t long before they realised they were meant to be. After a romantic proposal on Sydney Harbour(half way between their two home towns) they started planning for their gorgeous wedding day. Andrew has photographed the weddings of two of Angelina’s siblings and there was always much joking about when we would photograph Angelina’s wedding! When we got the call, we were so excited! It’s so lovely to be a part of such a big occasion for a family we now know so well. Angelina and Pat have started their new life together in Melbourne, so it was important to them to have their wedding in Brisbane, surrounded by close friends and family – including many who had travelled from Melbourne for the big day. We had a wonderful time photographing their wedding and were so happy to hear from Angelina how they loved their photos:

“As most couples often tell you, the day flashes past so quickly, and is over before you know it . We love the way Andrew is able to turn a simple street scape in New Farm and concrete walls and a bit of long grass at the Powerhouse into a stunning series of photos that captured our special day in an amazingly creative and unique way.”

Angela & Khalinh

When we talk to Angela and Khalinh about their wedding they remember it as the best day of their lives! We love this! They had a gorgeous wedding which was a great balance of tradition and culture while still creating a relaxed and fun atmosphere for their guests. Angela wore her late Grandmother’s gold brooch which meant so much to her family, as well as her new sister-in-laws diamond bracelet. She says it was great for her to have something from both sides of the family. While they had a Western style ceremony, Khalinh’s culture was incorporated in the reception at the Victoria Park Golf Club with traditional Chinese Lion Dancers who were a big hit with the guests! Angela and Khalinh tell us they love re-living the day through the photos taken by Porfyri photographer Rebecca, and we loved the experience of being a part of the best day of their lives.
